Ben Damge Scores in 88th Minute to Earn Wildcat Win
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 3 Kentucky men’s soccer, now 2-0-0, defeated East Tennessee State (1-1-0) 1-0 at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex on Monday evening.
The Wildcats fought hard until the end to secure the second win and clean sheet of the season. Senior Ben Damge found his opportunity in the 88th minute where he was able to make it past the keeper with a right-footed shot to the bottom left of the goal. He was assisted by freshman Alfred Baafi and sophomore Max Miller to score the game-winner.
Keeper Casper Mols did not let an ETSU ball make it into the net, but it was Miller who earned one team save in the 80th minute. His dive and right-footed deflection allowed UK to continue against a scoreless opponent.
The Wildcats have now improved their all-time series record against the Buccaneers to 7-2-0.
Kentucky will now set its sights on the first road test of the season at Wisconsin-Madison on Friday.
