Seven UKTF Women Advance To Austin On Final Day Of NCAA East Prelims
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Seven Kentucky track and field student athletes from the women’s side qualified today to compete at the NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships in Austin, Texas next month. Anthaya Charlton, Karimah Davis, and Masai Russell all qualified in multiple events.
The day’s first event was the 4×100 relay that a team of Victoria Perrow, Charlton, Russell, and Davis swept earning an automatic qualifier with a time of 42.99.
Russell earned two additional automatic qualifications in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles. Russell crossed the line first in her heat of the 100-meter hurdles with a 12.58 (4.4) time to win the prelim. Her time of 56.30 in the 400-meter hurdles gave her a second win on the day in her heat and placed Russell second overall in the prelim.
Charlton placed second in her heat of the 100 meter dash to earn her second automatic qualification of the evening. Her time of 11.08 (2.3) placed her 6th overall in the prelim.
Davis also earned two additional qualifications in both the 200 meters and the 4×400 relay. Davis placed third in the final heat to take the final automatic qualifier. Her time of 22.96 (0.7) placed her 12th overall in the prelim.
Davis, Megan Moss, Tamiia Fuller and Dajour Miles closed out the night for the Wildcats as they also placed third in the final heat of the event to take the final automatic qualifying spot. Their time of 3:32.88 placed them seventh overall in the prelim.
The NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships begin Wednesday, June 7, and end on Saturday, June 10. Tickets are available for purchase now.
