JJ Mercer Selected to CSC Academic All-District List
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Men’s tennis senior, JJ Mercer was announced on Tuesday as a part of the first-ever College Sports Communicators men’s tennis Academic All-District selections.
The CSC Academic All-District honorees were selected to recognize student-athletes with outstanding academic and athletic achievements. The 2022-2023 season marks the first year in which men’s tennis has been included as a sport-specific contest. Previously, men’s tennis student-athletes were recognized as a part of CSC’s At-Large contests.
Mercer graduated from Kentucky this spring, receiving his bachelor’s degree in finance. A native of Huntington, W. Va., Mercer is in his second full season with the Wildcats after beginning his collegiate career at Ohio State. He has been a key doubles contributor this season, playing to a record of 15-5 alongside partner Joshua Lapadat. The pair is ranked No. 67 in the country by the ITA and is 3-2 against nationally ranked opponents.
All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on May 31.
