UKTF Complete Day One of Jim Green Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky track & field program completed the first day of competition at the Jim Green Invitational on Friday, April 28 at the University of Kentucky Outdoor Track and Field Complex.

Personal Bests

The Wildcats had five personal bests today.

Leah Moore threw her way to a 161’9”/49.31 meters personal best in the women’s hammer throw. She accomplished the feat on her final attempt of the afternoon to finish fourth.

Daroyce Flemons earned a personal best in the same event a little later throwing for 183’5”/55.90 meters. Flemons placed fourth while Ryan Avare closed out the event with a personal best of his own at 156’3”/47.63 meters to finish ninth.

Freshman Mallory Mullen reached new heights in the women’s high jump leaping over 5’7.25”/1.71 meters for the personal best and a runner-up finish.

Masai Russell won the women’s 200 meters on her outdoor debut in the event with a time of 23.26.

Jordan Anthony also made a debut today in the men’s 200 meters, placing runner-up with a time of 20.98.

Juliann Williams placed second in the women’s 1500 meters with a personal best of 4:31.31.

Gabriel Robinson earned a personal best time of 1:56.12 in the men’s 800 meters to finish the day for the Wildcats.

Notables

Logan Coles placed runner-up in the men’s hammer throw at 204’9”/62.42 meters while Michael Browning was just behind in third with a throw of 192’10”/58.78 meters. Dennis Ohene-Adu earned a top 10 finish in sixth with a throw of 173’2”/52.79 meters.

Donsten Brown placed fourth in the men’s high jump with a leap of 6’4.75”/1.95 meters. Meg Wilson also placed fourth in the same event jumping 19’2.75”/5.86 meters.

Beck O’Daniel got the Wildcats their first win of the day after he took the men’s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.28.

Five other Wildcats earned top 10 finishes in the women’s 200 meters. Shadajah Ballard placed fourth with a time of 23.78 while Colleen Branch placed fifth with a time of 23.85. Anthaya Charlton was sixth at 23.97, Megan Moss was seventh at 23.98 and Dajour Miles was eighth at 23.99. Tamiia Fuller was just outside the top 10 in 11th at 24.16.

Brandon Miller won the men’s 200 meters with a time of 20.94 while Myles Anders placed eighth with a time of 21.49.

Freshman Ally Kruger won the women’s 1500 meters with a time of 4:29.96 while Kaylie Kenne placed third with a time of 4:33.08. Mollie Roden placed eighth with a time of 4:46.38 while Mallory Liggett was 11th with a time of 4:53.82.

Dylan Allen completed the sweep of the 1500 for the Wildcats with a time of 3:48.32 while McLean Griffin placed fourth with a time of 3:57.75.

Phoebe McCowan was runner-up in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:06.58 while Sydney Steely was third with a time of 2:06.99. Jenna Schwinghamer was fourth at 2:07.41, DeAnna Martin was sixth at 2:08.25 and Bryanna Lucas was eighth at 2:10.78.

Justin Swann won the men’s 800 meters with a time of 1:49.86 while Alex Justus placed third with a time of 1:50.45.

In the day’s final event, Jackson Watts placed third in the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:01.83 while Alex Alston placed fifth with a time of 9:24.85.

Day two of the Jim Green Invitational will get started at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow with the senior ceremony taking place at noon.
