No. 8 Kentucky Travels to No. 7/6 Arkansas for Key SEC Series
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After a 9-0 win over in-state rivals Louisville and a no-hitter thrown by Stephanie Schoonover, the No. 8 Kentucky Softball team will travel west this weekend to face off against the No. 7/6 Arkansas Razorbacks for a three-game series at Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas beginning Friday and running through Easter Sunday.
Friday’s game will be at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network+ with Saturday’s game at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2 with Matt Schumacker and former Washington All-American, Danielle Lawrie on the call. Sunday’s series finale has been moved up two hours to a Noon ET start from its originally-scheduled start time of 2 p.m. ET.
Kentucky and Arkansas are both in the top part of the Southeastern Conference standings, with the winner of this series guaranteed to leave the weekend with at least a share of the top spot of the SEC with Alabama. The Razorbacks are 30-7 this season with an SEC-leading conference record of 9-3 led by head coach Courtney Diefel in her sixth season at Arkansas.
The Wildcats won their 28th game of the season Tuesday night in Louisville to improve to 28-9. UK is 8-4 in the SEC, one game back of the Hogs for first place in the league standings. Kentucky’s pitching staff leads the SEC with a team ERA of 3.24 in conference games only and trail the Razorbacks by .004 for the top spot in team batting average on the season in league games.
