No. 8 Kentucky Opens SEC Play at No. 3 Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 8 Kentucky Softball team opens Southeastern Conference play at No. 3 Alabama this weekend with a three-game series at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. All three games of the series will be broadcasted live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the ESPN app with Gray Robertson and Sydney Littlejohn Watkins on the call.

Both Alabama and Kentucky are coming off of midweek losses, with UK dropping a 7-5 decision to Miami in Oxford on Wednesday and Alabama falling 6-5 to No. 2 Florida State at home.
 
Alabama is 22-3 on the year, with Kentucky sitting at 19-3. UK had its SEC bye last weekend on opening weekend of conference play. Alabama lost two out of three against LSU in Baton Rouge.        
 
Kentucky and Alabama played six times last year, including three postseason games. UK won a three-game SEC series in Lexington with a walk-off in game three against the Tide. Alabama won the meeting between the two in the 2021 SEC Tournament, and both games of the 2021 NCAA Tuscaloosa Super Regional. In regular-season games, Kentucky has won four of the last six games including two series wins (2019, 2021) with Alabama and five of the last nine games.
 
Alabama will be the fifth ranked team that Kentucky has faced in 2022.
