Grome Wins Eighth SEC Honor of 2022, Named SEC SOW, POW
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sophomore setter Emma Grome was named the Southeastern Conference’s Setter of the Week and overall Player of the Week on Monday, the league office announced. The honors for Grome mark her seventh and eighth weekly awards this season from the SEC office.
Grome continued her torrid autumn run with 54 assists on Friday night as Kentucky beat Mississippi State in four sets, guiding the UK offense to a .308 hitting percentage. In the match, UK had three different players hit 13+ kills thanks to her balanced distribution, while also logging 19 digs.
Her 19 digs are a new season high, and just two off her career high set in October of 2021. Grome also had four blocks, including a solo stuff and was successful on two of her four attacks.
Kentucky plays against Tennessee on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network+ and the ESPN app. The match will be held inside historic Memorial Coliseum with tickets on sale at UKathletics.com.
