Sandidge Tabbed SEC Freshman of the Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky men’s swimming & diving first-year Levi Sandidge has earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors, it was announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Sandidge enjoyed a spectacular collegiate debut at UK’s first meet of the 2022-23 season, totaling three individual wins against a highly touted Indiana squad last Wednesday (Oct. 5).

The native of Richardson, Texas was victorious in the 1000 free, 500 free and 400 IM, earning a team-high 27 points for the Wildcats. Sandidge opened the day with a time of 9:02.22 in the 1000-yard freestyle, placing him fourth on the UK all-time list for the event and second in the country this season. He followed up this noteworthy performance with a 4:25.05 to win the 500 free by more than two seconds, before finishing the 400-yard IM in 3:53.57.

Sandidge and the rest of the Cats are back in the water on Friday, Oct. 21 for a road dual against NC State.
