LEXINGTON, Ky. – Madison Lilley of the Kentucky Volleyball team was named a finalist for the 2020 Kentucky Sports Figure of the Year, the Lexington Herald-Leader’s Mark Story announced via Twitter on Thursday afternoon.

Lilley is one of 10 finalists randomly being unveiled before Jan. 25’s announcement of the winner for the prestigious award. UK head coach Craig Skinner was previously announced as one of the 10 finalists Tuesday afternoon.

Lilley had a laundry list of accomplishments in her senior season as a Kentucky Wildcat, winning the 2020 NCAA national championship, 2020 AVCA National Player of the Year award, finalist for Female Athlete of the Year in the ESPYs, 2020-21 SEC Female Athlete of the Year, AVCA First-Team All-American, SEC Player of the Year, All-SEC, Region Player of the Year, NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player and CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America.

She joined Anthony Davis (2011-12) as the only player in the University of Kentucky Athletics’ history to win SEC Player of the Year, National Player of the Year, NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player and win a national championship in the same season.

She captained a Kentucky team that went 24-1 en route to its fourth-straight SEC Championship and navigated the teeth of the COVID-19 pandemic during all of it. The Overland Park, Kansas, native then signed a professional contract to play volleyball in Germany, where she currently plays.
