LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the second time this season, Erin Coffel of the Kentucky Softball team was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. Coffel shares the honor with Tennessee’s Ivy Davis.

Coffel was additionally named the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association National Player of the Week earlier in the day, becoming the first Kentucky player to win the award since Griffin Joiner did it in 2014.

The sophomore from Bremen, Indiana hit .667 on the week, including a whopping .700 in the Wildcats’ three-game series at No. 6 Arkansas. Coffel hit three home runs, drove in 10 runs and had two long balls in Saturday’s win over the SEC-leading Razorbacks.

Alabama’s Montana Fouts was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week and Auburn’s Bri Ellis won SEC Freshman of the Week thanks to her .857 week at the plate in AU’s non-conference tournament.

The Wildcats are at Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. ET before hosting a three-game series with Missouri running Saturday through Monday at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington. Tickets for the Mizzou series can be purchased through the Kentucky Athletics Ticket Office.
