Kentucky Sets Eight Season Highs Friday, Posts 197.350
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Gymnastics team posted its third score above a 197 at home in a row this season, as the Wildcats set eight season-high scores en route to a 197.350 Friday night inside Memorial Coliseum.
Florida, the No. 2 ranked team in the country, posted a 197.575 to win the meet by just over two tenths.
Kentucky started the night on fire, posting a season-high score of 49.450 with all six scores above a 9.8. Arianna Patterson led the way with a 9.950 to take the vault title. Jillian Procasky followed with a 9.90 to take third in the event. Isabella Magnelli (9.850), Patterson and Makenzie Wilson (9.875) all recorded season high’s on the event with Patterson and Wilson’s coming as career-best results.
The Wildcats then turned to bars, where it recorded the four-highest scores of the night as a team and Raena Worley and Shealyn Luksik co-won the event with a 9.925 as Luksik set a new season and career high. Kentucky proved itself as one of the best bars teams in the nation Friday night, logging all six performance above a 9.8 and four scores above a 9.875.
Kentucky scored a 49.125 in the third rotation on beam. The Wildcats got new season high scores from Carissa Clay and Arianna Patterson. Clay posted a 9.725 and Patterson had a 9.850. Raena Worley scored Kentucky’s highest beam score with a 9.875. Magnelli and Patterson both scored a 9.850 on the beam, with Patterson’s score being a new season high.
UK closed out the night on floor with a 49.375, besting the Gators by .025. Raena Worley scored a 9.950 and Hailey Davis scored a 9.925 to lead the Wildcats in the event with a strong bookend to the event. Kentucky counted five scores of 9.8 or higher on every event Friday night except one.
Kentucky competes next week at Auburn on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. ET. The meet will be televised on the SEC Network from The Plains, along with ESPN3 and the ESPN app.
