No. 16 Kentucky Heads to Tucson for 2022 Hillenbrand Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a 4-1 start to the 2022 softball season, the Kentucky Wildcats will head west to Tucson, Arizona to compete in the 2022 Hillenbrand Invitational hosted by the University of Arizona over the weekend. The Wildcats will play five games, beginning with two each Friday and Saturday before a Sunday morning finale.
 
UK will play UC Santa Barbara twice, while matching up against Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount and the hosts, Arizona, each once in the tournament.
 
Kentucky’s games against LBSU, LMU and UCSB will be carried live on FLOsoftball with a subscription. The Wildcats’ game against Arizona will be broadcasted live on the PAC-12 Digital Network online.
 
The Wildcats got off to a strong start for 2022 this past weekend at the Northern Lights/Southern Nights Invitational in Orlando, going 4-1 with wins over Wisconsin, Michigan State, Liberty and Iowa. UK was led offensively by Lauren Johnson, who hit .500 on the weekend with eight hits including three triples, six RBI and four runs scored.
 
In the circle, it was junior Miranda Stoddard pacing the way for the Wildcats with a 1.66 ERA and a 2-1 record. Stoddard recorded wins over Wisconsin and Liberty, with only three earned runs in 12.2 innings of work with six strikeouts. Both Johnson and Stoddard were named to the all-tournament team on Tuesday afternoon.
