LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Softball players Lauren Johnson and Miranda Stoddard were named to the inaugural Northern Lights/Southern Nights All-Tournament Team, the organization announced Tuesday morning for their performances this weekend in the season-opening weekend.

The Wildcat tandem helped UK take down three Big Ten opponents, Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan State, in addition to beating Regional finalist Liberty on opening weekend to start the season 4-1.

Lauren Johnson led Kentucky in hitting with a .500 average, four runs scored, eight hits, three triples and six RBI to lead all Wildcats. Johnson’s weekend put her at the top of the UK offense in batting average, hits, triples and RBI after the first five games of the season.

Miranda Stoddard finished the weekend 2-1 in the circle with a 1.66 ERA thanks to a complete-game win over Wisconsin and a win in relief against Liberty. Stoddard allowed only three earned runs in 12.2 innings in the circle and struck out six batters.

Kentucky heads west for the 2022 Hillenbrand Invitational this weekend hosted by the University of Arizona in Tucson. Games begin Friday morning.
