Chase Wileman Named Men's Head Soccer Coach at Brown University

by Chandler Brandes

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky men’s soccer associate head coach Chase Wileman has been named the Friends of Brown Men’s Soccer Head Coaching Chair at Brown University, becoming the seventh head coach in the program’s history.

“I am so proud of Chase. We are happy for him and his family, but certainly sad to see him go. He is one of the best coaches I have ever worked with, and he has been a huge part of our success here at Kentucky,” said UK head coach Johan Cedergren. “His ability to help young men develop, not just into elite soccer players but great people, is second to none. He is ready for this. I look forward to watching his success and wish Chase and Chelsea all the best.”

Wileman first joined the Kentucky staff in 2014 as an assistant coach before being promoted to associate head coach at the start of the 2018 season. In his eight seasons with the Wildcats, he helped lead the team to a 100-36-22 overall record and seven NCAA Tournament appearances.

With Wileman on staff, the Wildcats won two Conference USA Regular Season Championships and two Conference USA Tournament Championships. UK reached the Elite Eight in 2018 — the best showing in program history — and advanced to the Sweet 16 in both 2020 and 2021.

Under Wileman’s tutelage, Kentucky saw six players named All-Americans, four tabbed as the Conference USA Player of the Year, and four selected in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

Wileman was also part of the United Soccer Coaches Southeast Region Staff of the Year in 2018.
