Team Records and Series Notes

  • This was the season opener for both teams with Kentucky now sitting 1-0 and Presbyterian 0-1.
    • This was the first all-time meeting between Kentucky and Presbyterian in women’s basketball.
    • UK now leads the all-time series 1-0.
  • Kentucky is in its 48th season with a 864-557 (.608) all-time record.
  • For the 13th time since 2007, UK began its season ranked or receiving votes in the national polls as the Associated Press tabbed Kentucky at No. 13 in its preseason poll.
    • This marks the third straight season that Kentucky has started ranked in the top 15 of the AP Top 25.
  • Kyra Elzy is in her second season as the head coach of the Wildcats, holding a 19-9 overall record.
    • Elzy is 12-2 at home, including a 10-2 record inside Memorial Coliseum and 2-0 mark inside Rupp Arena.
    • Elzy is 6-0 at home against a non-conference opponent with all six wins coming in Memorial Coliseum.
  • Kentucky will be back in action Thursday against North Alabama at 7 p.m. ET inside Memorial Coliseum.
    • North Alabama started its season earlier Tuesday, defeating Blackburn 114-52 at home.

  • Kentucky used the starting combination of senior guards Jazmine Massengill and Rhyne Howard, junior guard Emma King, junior forward Dre’una Edwards and redshirt junior center Olivia Owens.
    • UK is 1-0 this season with those starting five.
    • Treasure Hunt scored first for Kentucky in the game and was the first sub for Kentucky.
    • Kentucky won the opening tip with Olivia Owens in the center circle.
  • Tuesday’s win gives Kentucky a 13-game winning streak in season openers and home openers.
    • UK is 40-8 all-time in season openers.
    • The Wildcats are 44-4 all-time in home openers.
  • Presbyterian jumped on the Wildcats to start the game, scoring the first six points of the contest and keeping UK scoreless for the first 2:42 of the game.
  • The Blue Hose dominated the first quarter, leading 25-15 after the first 10 minutes.
    • Presbyterian made each of its last eight shots in the quarter.
    • Overall, PC shot 9-of-11 from the field in the first quarter, including 3-of-4 from long range.
    • Kentucky was ice cold to start the game, shooting 5-of-17 from the field and 1-of-8 from long range.
    • PC forced Kentucky into five turnovers in the first quarter and scored seven points off those miscues.
    • PC also scored 12 of its 25 first-quarter points in the paint.
  • After PC started the second quarter with a layup, Kentucky went on a 9-0 run to force a PC timeout at 27-24 with 6:53 to go in the half.
  • Kentucky took its first lead of the game as time expired in the first half as Rhyne Howard banked in a 3-pointer from half court.
    • The long-range make was a welcomed shot for the Wildcats, who went just 4-of-15 from 3 in the first half overall.
  • Presbyterian went 12-of-22 from the field in the first half, while Kentucky was 14-of-33 from the field.
  • Both teams combined for 21 fouls and attempted 26 free throws in the first half.
    • UK was called for 11 fouls and went 6-of-12 from the line, while Presbyterian was called for 10 fouls and was 10-of-14 from the stripe.
  • Kentucky picked up right where they left off to start the third quarter, scoring the first 19 points of the quarter.
    • The run was part of an overall 22-0 run for Kentucky.
      • The 22-0 run was Kentucky’s largest since scoring 24 straight vs. Jackson State on Nov. 29, 2015.
    • UK held Presbyterian scoreless for the first 5:52 of the second half.
    • Kentucky held Presbyterian without a field goal for the first 6:58 of the third quarter.
  • The Wildcats outscored Presbyterian 29-6 in the third quarter.

    • Howard’s seven assists were one off her career high 39th time in her career she has recorded three or more assists in a game.
    • For her career, Howard has scored 1,670 career points sitting seventh in UK history in points scored. She needs 22 more to tie Maci Morris for sixth.
