Kristen Crenshaw-Gill Joins Kentucky WBB Roster

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky women’s basketball head coach Kyra Elzy has announced the addition of Kristen Crenshaw-Gill, a freshman walk-on from Youngstown, Ohio, to the Wildcats’ 2021-22 roster as a walk-on. 
 
“We are excited to announce the addition of Kristen to the program,” Elzy said. “She performed well in open tryouts and has worked hard in practice the last few weeks to earn her spot on the team. Kristen understands the commitment involved in being a Kentucky women’s basketball player. We are all happy to have her in the program.”
 
Crenshaw-Gill, who will wear the number 4 this season, comes to Lexington from Valley Christian High School in Youngstown, Ohio. The 5-foot-9 guard is a right-handed shooter that is planning a major in sociology. A complete Crenshaw-Gill bio is below.

Kristen Crenshaw-Gill, 5-9, Fr., G (Youngstown, Ohio – Valley Christian HS) – A four-year starter and letterwinner at Valley Christian High School in Youngstown, Ohio … Was tabbed first-team all-conference and most valuable player all four years of high school … As a senior, averaged 26 points per game with 5.5 rebounds per game, 3.5 assists per game and 3.0 steals per game … For her efforts, she was named EOAC All-Conference her senior year and ended her high school playing career as Valley Christian’s all-time scorer … As a junior, she averaged 25.2 points per game, hitting 56 percent from the field … Had a memorable sophomore season where she was named honorable mention All-Ohio and third-team All-Northeast Ohio … Averaged 24.1 points per game, 4.1 assists per game, 3.4 rebounds per game and 3.3 assists per game as a sophomore … Scored 30 points in leading the Eagles to a victory in the sectional state tournament first round … Also scored 37 points against Youngstown East as a sophomore and was tabbed the WFMJ Player of the Week for her efforts … As a freshman, she busted onto the scene by averaging 23.9 points per game with 4.2 rebounds per game, 2.9 steals per game and 2.5 assists per game … She scored 21 points with five assists and four steals to lead the way in the district semifinals as a freshman … Honor roll student.
