Masai Russell, Faith Ross, Celera Barnes, 4x400 Relay Tally at NCAA Track and Field Championships
EUGENE, Oregon – Masai Russell, Faith Ross, Celera Barnes and the 4×400-meter relay tallied points for the Kentucky women’s track and field team Saturday at the 2021 NCAA Championships at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus.
As a team, Kentucky totaled 13 points to finish in 21st place, the seventh-straight time that the Wildcats have placed in the top 25.
Russell scored in both hurdles races. She got the Wildcats started with a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, earning three team points, with a time of 12.97 seconds. Russell finished fourth in the 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 56.18, adding five points.
Russell was joined in the 400 hurdles points by Faith Ross, who also raced a personal best with 56.49 to finish sixth, adding three points.
Celera Barnes scored a point with her eighth-place finish in the 100m dash. She posted a wind-aided time of 11.31 (+2.2).
The 4×400 relay unit of Megan Moss, Dajour Miles, Barnes and Ross ran the third-best time in school history, 3:28.68, to finish eighth and add the final point.
The Kentucky men completed their meet yesterday, landing in 15th place, the best finish for the UK men since 2014.
