Madi Skinner Named SEC Freshman of the Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky’s Madi Skinner was named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Skinner helped lead the Kentucky offense to a sweep of Ole Miss, as the Wildcats improved their season record to 16-0 on the season through the first eight series of the year.
The freshman from Katy, Texas averaged 3.17 kills per set, logging 10 kills on Friday and an equally impressive nine on Saturday afternoon. She also made her mark on the series on defense, logging multi-block matches Friday and Saturday, with five on the weekend total.
Skinner helped UK hit .402 Friday night with an efficient 10 kills on 15 swings for a personal attacking percentage of .533 in the match.
Kentucky travels to Gainesville, Florida this weekend to take on the top-10 Florida Gators in a series of the two highest-ranked teams in the SEC. Friday’s match is at 1 p.m. ET with Saturday’s match at 4 p.m. ET and both will stream live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the ESPN app.
