Kentucky Indoor Track & Field Ready for SEC Championships
FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas – The University of Kentucky men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams will compete at the Southeastern Conference Championships from Thursday to Saturday at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
The meet begins at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday and Friday, and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Live results can be found at SECsports. Live coverage of the event will air on SEC Network Plus and the broadcast talent includes Dwight Stones, Dan O’Brien and John Anderson. A tape-delayed broadcast of the championship will air on the SEC Network Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.

Sunday tape delay broadcast on SEC Network
Coach Lonnie Greene’s squads enter the meet with the women’s team ranked No. 12 nationally and the men rated at No. 17. Wildcats who rank among the SEC’s top five in at least one event this season:
- Abby Steiner leads the nation and ranks second in the world this year in the 200-meter dash with her school-record time of 22.52 seconds at the Tiger Paw Invitational. She is attempting to become a two-time SEC gold medalist after winning the event at the 2020 championships. In the 60m dash, Steiner rates second in the SEC and sixth in the nation with her clocking of 7.21 at the Tiger Paw.
- Matthew Peare is ranked first in the SEC and seventh nationally with his school-record pole vault of 18’0.5″ at the Tiger Paw Invite. Like Steiner, he Is the SEC indoor defending champion in this event.
- Anyone carrying a baton. The UK men’s 4x400m relay turned in the SEC’s top time, second nationally, with 3:05.46 at the Tiger Paw. Jacob Smith, Lance Lang, Kenroy Williams and Dwight St. Hillaire comprise the Wildcat quartet. The women’s 4×400 relay is rated third in the league and fourth nationally, based on the 3:32.41 time at the South Carolina Invitational. Megan Moss, Abby Steiner, Masai Russell and Dajour Miles carry the stick for the Cats. UK won the silver medal in this event a year ago, with Moss and Miles being half of that unit.
- Josh Sobota had the third-best shot put in the SEC during the regular season, heaving the sphere 62’6″ at the McCravy-Green Invitational. He was the bronze medalist at the 2020 SEC Championships.
- Lance Lang posted the SEC’s fourth-best time, 10th nationally with a 20.75 showing at the Tiger Paw. He also rated fifth in the league in 60 meters, with a time of 6.67 seconds at the South Carolina Invite.
