COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Two University of Kentucky swimmers have been named to the 2021 USA Swimming National Jr. Team, as Caitlin Brooks and Gillian Davey make their second straight appearance on the prestigious roster.

Brooks, a sophomore from Gainesville, Florida, was selected as one of the top five junior swimmers in the nation in the 100 backstroke and one of the top four junior swimmers in the nation in the 200 backstroke.

Davey, a sophomore from Urbandale, Iowa, was selected as one of the top four junior swimmers in the nation in the 200 breaststroke.

Both Brooks and Davey stamped their name into the program record book after just one season of action, wrapping up unique rookie seasons in March 2020.

Brooks holds the school record in the 100m backstroke (LCM), earning a time of 1:00.46 at the 2019 Phillips 66 National Championships in Stanford, California. With that time, she earned a bronze medal as one of the youngest swimmers in the event. The then-freshman was also invited to compete in the 100 and 200 backstroke at the 2020 NCAA Championships before it was canceled, however the Florida native was awarded a pair of All-America honors in those events for her qualification.

Davey holds two school records, breaking her first one in the 200m breaststroke (LCM) at the 2019 Phillips 66 National Championships, earning a career best and school record 2:26.80. Then, in 2019 November, Davey broke the school record in the 100m breaststroke (LCM) at the 2019 Ohio State Fall Invitational, earning a time of 1:09.23. Davey was invited to compete at the 2020 NCAA Championships in the 200 breaststroke and the 400 IM before it was canceled, however she was also awarded a pair of All-America honors in those events for her qualification.

Both Brooks and Davey were named to the 2020 Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team, while Brooks was named SEC Freshman of the Week three times last season.
