LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky women’s tennis redshirt junior Lesedi Jacobs has been named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team for her hardwork and dedication to serving others during her time as a Wildcat.

Jacobs leads the Kentucky women’s tennis team with 36 registered community service hours. The Windhoek, Namibia, native has touched many diverse organizations in the community, spreading her service across 14 different organizations. The team captain has donated the most time to Lexington’s Habitat for Humanity, where she helped build a home.

In addition to Habitat for Humanity, Jacobs has spent time with Special Olympics Kentucky, UK Athletics’ charity of choice. Jacobs has participated in a handful of events where she has been able to interact with Kentucky Special Olympics children and adults in athletic settings, including helping the athletes play softball and teaching tennis drills. Jacobs has also donated time to God’s Pantry, Amachi Central Kentucky, Backpack Program and Read Across America.

Jacobs was inducted into the 2020 Frank G. Ham Society of Character last January, a group of student-athletes honored each year who show a profound commitment to the following areas: academic excellence, athletic participation, personal development, community service and career preparation.

Jacobs, a team captain, won two doubles championships in the fall of 2019, earning a ticket to the 2019 ITA Fall Nationals where she reached the round of 16. Jacobs recorded one the best doubles records in recent history of the program, posting a 21-2 overall doubles record (fall and spring) by the end of the disrupted season. She also concluded the season with a 3-0 record on the No. 1 singles court in the Southeastern Conference.
