Team Records and Series Notes 

  • Kentucky’s record is 14-4 and is 5-1 in Southeastern Conference play. This is the seventh time in 11 seasons that UK has started 5-1 or better in league play under Coach John Calipari.
  • Georgia is 11-7 overall, 1-4 in the SEC.
  • UK leads the series 129-26 and has won 14 in a row against the Bulldogs. UK completed a two-game sweep of the regular-season matchups, having won 78-69 on Jan. 7 in Athens, Georgia.
    • UK leads 62-5 in games played in Lexington, including nine wins in a row.
  • Next up: Kentucky goes on the road for its final nonconference game of the regular season, taking on Texas Tech on Saturday in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. Game time is 6 p.m. ET (5 p.m. CT in Lubbock) and it will be televised on ESPN.
    • UK is 3-3 in the Big/12 SEC Challenge but has won its last two games in the annual conference series. 

 
Player Notes   

  • Ashton Hagans had team highs with 23 points and nine assists.

    • He extended his five-or-more-assists streak to 15 straight games, the best streak since Tyler Ulis did it 24 straight games in 2015-16.
    • In three career games vs. his home-state team, Hagans is averaging 19.7 points and 6.0 assists.
    • His 23 points tied for the second most in his career.    
  • Nick Richards had 20 points and a game-high-tying eight rebounds. 
    • He has scored in double figures for the seventh straight game.
    • He’s averaging 16.6 points and 9.1 rebounds over the last seven games.
    • Richards is now UK’s leading scorer this season with a 13.7 average, in addition to already leading the team in rebounds per game, blocks per game and field-goal percentage.
  • Immanuel Quickley had 12 points.   
    • He’s averaging a team-leading 17.1 points over the last seven games, including 18 of 37 on 3-point shots.
  • EJ Montgomery totaled 10 points and six rebounds. It is his first double-figure game since a 25-point outing against Fairleigh Dickinson. UK is 3-0 this season when he scores double figures.
  • Johnny Juzang is becoming more of an offensive presence, tying his season high with five points at Arkansas then notching his season best with six points tonight.  
  • Keion Brooks Jr. followed up his 10-point, seven-rebound game at Arkansas with eight points and five rebounds.
    • His back-to-back buckets at the 12-minute mark began to turn the tide for the Wildcats, and his dunk at the 8:51 mark put the Wildcats up 13.

Coach John Calipari 

  • Kentucky coaches and staff wore sneakers tonight as part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers week, sponsored by the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
  • Calipari is now 319-75 at UK.   
  • He has a 764-215 all-time on-court record. 
  • UK is 259-43 vs. unranked competition under Calipari.
  • He is 19-2 all-time vs. Georgia.
  • The Wildcats are 141-39 vs. SEC competition in regular-season play under Calipari. He’s 349-105 all-time in regular-season conference games.

Team Notes 

  • Kentucky won its 10th straight home game and is 11-1 this season in Rupp Arena.
  • Kentucky scored 89 points, most since Nov. 8 when the Cats defeated Eastern Kentucky, 91-49.
  • UK shot 52.5% from the field and is now 13-1 this season when outshooting the opponent.
    • This was the sixth time this season that UK has made at least 50%, all wins.
  • Entering the game at 76.6% at the foul line, the Wildcats had another solid performance at 78.8% (26 of 33).
  • UK carried the day around the basket, winning rebounding 38-31 and points in the paint 46-30.
  • Kentucky led by 16 points in the second half. UK is now 274-7 under Calipari when leading by at least 10 points at any time in the contest.
  • Hagans and Richards each reached the 20-point mark, the second time UK has done so this season against an SEC opponent. Quickley and Richards did it vs. Missouri.

In the First Half 

  • The starting lineup consisted of Ashton Hagans, Tyrese Maxey, Immanuel Quickley, EJ Montgomery and Nick Richards for the fourth time this season. The Wildcats are 3-1 with the lineup.

    • Keion Brooks Jr. was UK’s first sub at the 14:03 mark.
  • UK got out to a 6-0 lead on a jumper by Hagans and driving floaters by Quickley and Hagans.
  • Kentucky held 10-point leads at 18-8 and 20-10.
  • Trailing 28-20, Georgia went on a 9-0 run for its only lead of the game at 29-28, coaxing a UK timeout at 5:32.
  • The Wildcats responded with a 7-0 run to reclaim a 35-29 lead, coaxing a UGA timeout at 4:10.
  • The teams went back-and-forth the remainder of the half and Kentucky went to intermission with a 41-35 lead. 
    • Free-throw shooting buoyed the Cats, who made 16 of 18 charity tosses in the first half. 
    • UK is 13-1 this season when leading at halftime.

 In the Second Half 

  • Kentucky began the second half with the opening lineup.
  • Georgia got four quick points, prompting a UK timeout at 19:25.
  • Again, the Cats responded to a timeout, rebuilding the lead to 51-43. 
  • Ahead 57-54, a 12-2 Kentucky run, fueled by the energetic play of Brooks, gave the Cats some breathing room at 69-56 and the Dawgs applied the brakes with a timeout at 8:49. 
  • The Dawgs regained their footing and pulled within 72-65 but got no closer.
  • An 8-0 run pushed the lead to the largest of the night at 83-67.
