Kentucky Adds Sophie Fischer to Star-Studded Signing Class

LEXINGTON, Ky. – One of the best signing classes in the nation just got considerably better, as Craig Skinner and the Kentucky Volleyball program announced that outside hitter and Under Armour All-American, Sophie Fischer, has signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Kentucky.

Fischer, a native of Fort Mill, South Carolina, will be eligible to play in the fall of 2020, but will enroll into classes next week and compete for the Wildcats in the spring season.

“It’s so great to have Sophie join the program,” UK head coach Craig Skinner said. “She had several great opportunities, but felt like Kentucky was where she belonged. She will be a multi-dimensional player, being able to score points and impact the game in several other ways.”

A graduate of Nation Ford HS, Fischer played her club volleyball for Adam Speight and the Carolina Rogue. She was an Under Armour First-Team All-American this season and a PrepVolleynall First-Team All-American, as well.

She helped lead her team to a 2018 and 2019 South Carolina state championship and was ranked as the No. 15 player nationally in the class that just signed. She is a three-time team MVP, South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year in 2018, all-state and all-region.
