8 UKTF Student-Athletes Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Eight student-athletes from the University of Kentucky’s track and field and cross country program were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) announced on Friday.
For the men’s team, Cole Dowdy, Joshua Sobota, Trevor Warren and Ben Young were honored. On the women’s team, Celera Barnes, Ellen Ekholm, Molly Leppelmeier and Abby Steiner were recognized for their performances.
Both the men’s and women’s teams had four placements each in District 2, which is comprised of schools in Washington D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Those four placements are the most of any school in District 2 on both the men’s and women’s side.
The 2020 Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.
Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced from June 22-25.
CoSIDA was founded in 1957 and is a 3,100+ member national organization comprised of the sports public relations, media relations and communications/information professionals throughout all levels of collegiate athletics in the United States and Canada.
