LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior Ellen Ekholm was named Southeastern Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season on Tuesday after breaking her own school record in the women’s high jump last Saturday at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina.

Ekholm, a native of Gothenburg, Sweden, first cleared a school-record 6-2.00 (1.88m) on her third try at Clemson, only to follow that up with a clearance of 6-2.75 (1.90m) again on her third try which is the No. 1 mark in the NCAA this season.

The senior is undefeated on the season, winning all five high jump competitions she has competed in and she has also broken the school record four times with two indoor meets left in the season.

Five Kentucky student-athletes have earned 10 weekly awards from the SEC this season while freshman Langston Jackson was also named National Athlete of the Week by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Feb. 11.

The Wildcats are off this weekend before traveling to the SEC Indoor Championships on Feb. 28-29 in College Station, Texas, followed by the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 13-14 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
