UK Gymnastics Adds Elyssa Roberts to Incoming Freshman Class
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Coming off a historical 2019 season, Kentucky gymnastics added Elyssa Roberts to an already heralded group of incoming freshmen. Roberts joins Raina Albores, Kassidy Howell, Shealyn Luksik and Raena Worley in the recruiting class of 2019.
Roberts comes to Lexington from Tifton, Georgia, shortly after graduating from Tift County High School. The daughter of Jodi and Phillip, Roberts hails from a family of athletes who competed at the collegiate level across the Peach State. Her father played tennis for Southeastern Conference powerhouse University of Georgia, while her middle sister Beth was a UGA gymnast. Her oldest sister, Emilee, was a Georgia Tech cheerleader.
At Tift County, Roberts led the Gym Devils to four consecutive state tournament appearances. She earned an individual third-place all-around finish in 2018 under the guidance of her mother, who served as head coach for three seasons. Outside of high school competition, she was coached by Ben Ledl at Tift Gymnastics Academy.
