Cats Claim 10 Wins at Wake Forest Fall Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Three Wildcats competed in last weekend’s Wake Forest Fall Invite, claiming 10 victories in Kentucky’s final installment of the Fall 2019 season.
 
Senior César Bourgois led the way with three singles wins and three doubles wins. The 6-foot-4 native of France defeated Tennessee Tech’s Rafael Tosetto 6-4, 6-3 and Clemson’s Teodor Giusca 7-5, 6-3 to win the North bracket of A2 Singles competition.
 
In A1 Doubles, Bourgois teamed up with sophomore Ying-Ze Chen to earn the East bracket crown with a 6-0 sweep of Charlotte’s Constandinos Christoforou and Henry Lieberman, a 6-1 victory over Diego Padilha and Vazha Shubladze of Georgia State and a 6-4 defeat of Melios Efstathiou and Eduardo Nava of host Wake Forest.
 
Chen claimed the C Singles South bracket with back-to-back triumphs over Mercer’s Carver Arant and Davidson’s Axel Fries, respectively. Senior Parth Aggarwal picked up two wins in A1 Singles West play.
 
Kentucky will open its Spring 2020 dual match season with a doubleheader versus Cleveland State and Toledo on Thursday, Jan. 16 at Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Complex.
