Daniel Roberts a Semifinalist for The Bowerman
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky junior Daniel Roberts was named one of 10 semifinalists for The Bowerman, collegiate track and field’s highest individual honor.
Roberts is joined as a semifinalist by Mondo Duplantis of LSU, JuVaughn Harrison of LSU, Grant Holloway of Florida, Bryce Hoppel of Kansas, Morgan McDonald of Wisconsin, Chris Nilsen of South Dakota, Divine Oduduru of Texas Tech, Payton Otterdahl of North Dakota State, and Anderson Peters of Mississippi State.
The three finalists will be named next Thursday, and the winner will be named during a ceremony at the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association convention in December.
Roberts left his name all over the record book in the sprint hurdles in 2019. His most recent feat came at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, where he matched the former collegiate record of 13.00 in a runner-up finish.
Indoors, Roberts clocked the second fastest mark in collegiate history in another runner-up finish (7.41).
All told, Roberts owns six all-time top-10 marks with four of those coming outdoors. Roberts won the SEC title in the 110 Meter Hurdles in 13.07.
UK had a men’s semifinalist each of the past two years as Tim Duckworth picked up the honor last year after winning the NCAA heptathlon indoors and decathlon outdoors.
The UK women’s program has had two finalists for The Bowerman ever with Kendra Harrison in 2015 and Sydney McLaughlin last season.
