Kentucky Hosts Michigan In Final Non-Conference Game

Kentucky Hosts Michigan In Final Non-Conference Game

by UK Athletics Communications and PR

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky opens the final week of the regular season with plenty to play for, including a berth in next week’s Southeastern Conference Tournament as well as momentum heading into the 2020 season. First, however, the Wildcats will host Michigan in the last non-conference game of the season on Tuesday night at Kentucky Proud Park.

First pitch for Tuesday’s game is at 7 p.m. ET and it will air on the SEC Network as a nationally televised regional showdown. Michigan has been red-hot lately, winning 14 of its past 16 games, including an 11-inning victory over Indiana on Sunday.

The Cats (25-26) have been terrific in non-conference play this season, going a perfect 17-0 vs. opponents from non-Power Five conferences and 18-6 overall against non-SEC foes. Interestingly, Michigan (37-13) traveled to Lexington last fall for an exhibition game against the Cats so the two teams are familiar with each other coming into Tuesday’s game.

With three games remaining in conference play the Cats are tied with Alabama and South Carolina for the final berth in the SEC Tournament. All three clubs face top 10 teams beginning Thursday so the Cats would like nothing more than to generate some good mojo heading into a date with No. 2 Vanderbilt.
