Jacob Thomson Named CoSIDA Academic All-America

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Track and Field Senior Jacob Thomson was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country team, selected by CoSIDA.
 
The honor, selected by college sports communications professionals throughout the nation, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in intercollegiate athletic competition and in the classroom.
 
Thomson was a Second Team All-America selection.
 
To be eligible for the All-America ballot, he was a First Team All-District selection within district two. The district includes Division I schools in Washington D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Thomson is a two-time Southeastern Conference Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year, three-time SEC Track and Field Champion – 5,000 meters (indoor 2018), 5k and 10k (2016), Three-time First-Team All-America – 10k (2016 and 2018), 5k (2018), and six-time SEC medalist overall.
 
He graduated in May with a degree in Accounting and Finance.

He’s qualified for the NCAA 10k final each of the past three years, and scored sixth-place points for the Wildcats at NCAAs earlier in June.
