Tim Duckworth 2018 National Indoor Field Athlete of the Year
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky track and field senior Timothy Duckworth was named National Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday.
Duckworth won the NCAA heptathlon last weekend becoming the No. 4 performer in collegiate history recording the fifth best score 6,188, a 23-point personal best. It was the third best score in NCAA Championships history.
He was the first Wildcat to claim NCAA individual gold for the first time since the legendary Tim Harden in 1996 (55 meters).
Duckworth recorded personal bests in the shot put (44’7″/13.59, 703 points), high jump (7’1.5″/2.17m, 963 points) and 1k over the weekend. He won the 60m (6.84, 940 points), long jump (25’4.75″/7.74m, 995 points), high jump and pole vault (16’11″/5.16m, 960 points).
The two-time First-Team All-American was named Southeastern Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Year earlier this month.

The senior who grew up in Phoenix and competes internationally for Great Britain, where both his parents are from, won the NCAA heptathlon title a year after taking silver, with a score just 12 points off gold.
He had the top regular-season heptathlon score, 7,061 at the Clemson Invitational on Jan. 19. He was SEC bronze medalist in the open long jump, his first SEC medal and then placed sixth in the SEC pole vault. He totaled nine points at SECs in the long jump and pole vault. He now ranks 19th in the NCAA in the open long jump, having reached 25’6.75″/7.79m at SECs.
