No. 8 Kentucky Heads to New Hampshire for Quad Meet
DURHAM, N.H. – The No. 8 Kentucky (7-4, 3-4 SEC) gymnastics team continues nonconference play with the New Hampshire Quad meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. UK will face New Hampshire, Brown and Yale at the Whittemore Center on Sunday at 1 p.m. The meet can be watched live on Watch ESPN and the ESPN App.
Kentucky recently hosted its senior night inside Memorial Coliseum. UK took down Ohio State in that meet with a 196.850, improving the team’s Regional Qualifying Score.
Scouting New Hampshire
Heading into week nine, New Hampshire holds the 32nd-best regional qualifying score in the nation. It’s best event is the beam, where the Wildcats are No. 17 at an RQS of 49.125. UNH is No. 31 on the bars, No. 41 on vault and No. 49 on the floor. New Hampshire is led by Casey Lauter at 9.895, and is No. 17 in the country. On vault, they are led by Danielle Mulligan at an RQS of 9.880.
Scouting Brown
Brown is No. 63 in the nation in RQS with a 192.385. Brown’s best event is the beam, where the RQS sits at 48.270 and they are ranked No. 57. BU averages a 47.897 and has a high of 48.600 on that event/ The Bears are No. 57 on the beam, No. 64 on the vault and No. 65 on the floor. Regan Butchness has been the best competitor for Brown this season on the beam with an RQS of 9.765 and an average of 9.664.
Scouting Yale
Yale’s RQS is 193.345, which is No. 57 in the nation. The Bulldogs are No. 52 on the bars currently with an RQS of 48.560, and they sit at No. 58 on vault, No. 60 on the floor and No. 62 on the beam. Yale has three all-arounders, with Jacey Baldovino at No. 64 in the nation at 38.915 RQS and a high of 39.250.
Kentucky in the Team Rankings
In the second week of Regional Qualifying Scores, UK moved up one spot to No. 8 in the nation. Kentucky sits in the four spot in the SEC rankings, with LSU, Florida and Alabama ahead of the Wildcats. The top-four teams in the final RQS compete in the night session of the SEC Championships.
Kentucky in the Event Rankings
UK is currently in the top-15 in every event, with its best on the beam. The Wildcats are No. 7 on the beam with an RQS of 49.295, an average of 49.106 and a high of 49.350. The Wildcats are No. 10 on vault with an RQS of 49.170, No. 10 on bars at 49.195 and No. 13 on the floor with 49.245.
Mollie Korth is Kentucky’s best all-arounder with an RQS of 39.240. Alex Hyland follows closely at No. 21 with an RQS of 39.375. Hyland’s also No. 21 on the beam, with an RQS of 9.890. Korth sits at No. 15 with a 9.885 on the vault.
Senior Night Career High
Katie Carlisle made her last meet in Memorial Coliseum count. She tied her bars career high against Ohio State with a 9.875, and has hit that mark two other times.
Another All-Around Win
In Kentucky’s team win over Ohio State, Mollie Korth picked up 11th career all-around title in just her second season at UK. Korth posted a 39.475 and also earned wins on vault (9.875) and bars (9.925).
Hyland Season High on Beam and Another Beam Win
Against the Buckeyes, Alex Hyland won her 17th beam title of her career with her 9.925. Hyland also split the floor title with Mollie Korth after a 9.875.
