Kentucky Gymnastics Announces 2018-19 Recruiting Class

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Head coach Tim Garrison and his staff announced the completion of the 2018-19 recruiting class on Monday. Josie Angeny (Prestige Gymnastics), Cally Nixon (International Gymnastics Training Center), Arianna Patterson (Metroplex Gymnastics) and Ella Warren (Florida Elite) will join the Wildcats in the fall of 2018.
 
“I’m proud to announce the signing of these four outstanding young ladies,” Garrison said. “As we welcome them to our Kentucky Gymnastics family, I look forward to watching them represent our program, athletic department and university with great anticipation. In addition to their athletic talent, they have all proven to be dedicated students performing excellent work in the classroom. Getting to know these ladies and their families as I have gives me great confidence that they will be positive additions to our family.”
 
Josie Angeny  
Lancaster, Penn. – Elizabethtown Area High School – Prestige Gymnastics
 
18513Angeny, a level 10 gymnast from Elizabethown, Pennsylvania, will join the wildcats after a successful pre-college career with Prestige Gymnastics. Before her time at Prestige, she spent eight years at the Gymnastics Center of Hershey. Angeny finished 12th in the all-around in the 2017 Junior Olympic Nationals with a score of 37.825. Her best finish in an event was on the beam with a 9.475, coming in seventh. At the level 10 regionals, her all-around score of 37.525 was sixth and she found two top-five finishes on the uneven bars and beam. Angeny was the 2017 Brestyan’s Invitational champion with an all-around score of 38.200, and she’s also taken titles at the Katie Baldwin Invitational and the 2016 Christmas on the Chesapeake Invitational.
 
Her 2016 season saw another appearance in the JO Nationals, where she finished sixth on beam with a 9.575. That year, she was 2016 level 10 regional champion on beam with a 9.550.
 
Angeny is the daughter of Jen and John Angeny and has two brothers and one sister, who is also a gymnast.
 
Cally Nixon
Miami, Florida – South Dade Senior High School – International Gymnastics Training Center

18514Nixon, a level 10 gymnast from Miami, will join the Wildcats for the 2018-19 school year. Nixon has trained at the International Gymnastics Training Center for the past 13 years. Nixon was the 2017 Jose Gaspar Award Winner after winning every event and the all-around trophy at the Gasparilla Classic. At the 2016 Junior Olympic Nationals, Nixon placed fifth on the vault with a score of 9.550, and was the ninth place finisher on the floor with a 9.5. She was the Florida state champion on the vault and second in the all-around in 2016.
 
In 2016, she earned the opportunity to perform a bar routine at the Tampa Kellogg’s Tour of Champions stop.
Nixon is the daughter of Calvin Nixon and Lynn Angry, who are both teachers. She has one sister, Tatyana.

Arianna Patterson
Plano, Texas – Plano Senior High School – Metroplex Gymnastics
 
18515Patterson, a level 10 gymnast from Plano, Texas, will join the Wildcats for the 2018-19 school year. Patterson has been at Metroplex for three years where she was coached by Marnie Futch and Gina Logan, and previously spent time at Golden Grip Gymnastics and Plano Aerobats. Patterson was the runner-up at the Texas State Championships in the all-around with ascore of 38.175, and also grabbed silver on the bars (9.550). She earned a 10th place finish at the 2017 Region 3 Championships in the all-around, and her best event finish was on bars at 9.400.
 
In 2015, she was the fifth place finisher on the bars at the Texas State Championships, and earned a beam and floor victory at the Chow’s Challenge as well.
 
Patterson’s is the daughter of Sharita and Lewis, and has one brother.
 

Ella Warren
Jacksonville, Florida – VEGA Gymnastics
18516Warren, a level 10 gymnast from Jacksonville, Florida, will compete for the Wildcats in the 2018-19 school year. Warren has trained at Florida Elite, previously named VEGA Gymnastics. Warren competed in the 2017 JO Nationals, where she finished 12th in the all-around and grabbed a bronze medal on beam with a 9.625. She was the Florida State Champion on bars with a score of 9.65, and the silver medalist in the all-around. On the floor, she was third with a 9.450.  Warren was a National qualifier in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
 
In 2016, She was the fourth place finisher at the Regionals in the all-around, and that included a second place finish on the vault at 9.65.

Warren is the daughter of Ilona and Mark Warren. She has one sister.
