Friday morning update: Tent count at approx. 370
On the final morning of the Big Blue Madness campout, approximately 370 tents have encircled Memorial Coliseum and the Joe Craft Center with fans seeking tickets to the annual celebration of Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball.
It’s a quiet morning at the campout after last night’s Tent City Live broadcast and visit from John Calipari and the men’s basketball team, but that won’t last. Controls cards will be distributed beginning at 2 p.m., with tickets to follow at 10 p.m.
Wednesday afternoon update: Tent count up to 350
Less than 12 hours in at the Big Blue Madness campout, approximately 350 tents had been set up around Memorial Coliseum and Joe Craft Center as of 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
To help with the University of Kentucky’s operational parking needs, two rows of parking in the Joe Craft Center lot initially reserved for tents will be reverted back to parking spots. With space remaining, there is still room for an estimated 60 new tents to be set up. Based on the current tent count and analysis of past campouts, this is expected to be sufficient space to accommodate new campers.
If space runs out, UK Athletics will immediately notify fans.
Wednesday morning update: First tent count at 330
Let the madness before Madness begin.
Move-in is complete at the annual campout for tickets to Big Blue Madness. With campers settled in and getting comfortable by Wednesday at 6 a.m. for the three-day event, 330 tents had been set up in the new camping area surrounding Memorial Coliseum.
The Avenue of Champions and Rose Street sides of Memorial are full, but space still remains for new campers in the parking lot behind the Joe Craft Center. With the distribution of control cards not taking place until Friday at 2 p.m., there is still plenty of time for fans to stake out a space and secure tickets to Madness.
Before control cards and tickets go out, there’s plenty of fun stuff planned for campers. Members of Kentucky’s women’s basketball team will be passing out food to campers on Wednesday evening and Tent City Live will be broadcasting live from the heart of the campout from 7-10 p.m. on Thursday.
