UKXC to Serve as Host for Bluegrass Invitational Saturday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky cross country program will serve as host university for the annual Bluegrass Invitational on Saturday at Masterson Station Park.
Kentucky, Bellarmine, EKU and Illinois will contest the men’s 8,000-meter race at 9:30 a.m. ET. Kentucky and Bellarmine will run the women’s 5k at 10:10 a.m.
The race will start near the Masterson Station Park soccer fields. Held alongside a prep meet, cars will be directed to park on the upper fields by meet volunteers.

Brennan Fields was named Southeastern Conference Freshman Runner of the Week on Tuesday after a solid debut at the Wildcats Opener. 
Fields placed fourth overall and was UK’s No. 3 finisher at the season-opening Wildcat Opener.
The Richmond, Kentucky, product ran a 4k time of 12:00.24 in his first collegiate race, helping UK to a season-opening team victory.
The Kentucky men’s and women’s team each won the Wildcat Opener dual meet vs. Cincinnati. Katy Kunc won the women’s race, and Kendall Muhammad won the men’s race.
The Kentucky men’s team was picked to finish fourth, and the women’s team was projected to be 10th at the 2016 SEC Championships by league coaches. 
The Kentucky women’s team was ranked No. 7 in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region to begin the season. The Kentucky men’s team was ranked No. 10 in the Southeast Region.
