UKTF Off and Running at VT Elite Meet
BLACKSBURG, Va. – Three Wildcats – Nick Anderson, Beckie Famurewa
and Kiah Seymour –were winners or top collegians in their events at the
Virginia Tech “Doc Hale” Elite Meet on Friday inside Rector Field House.
Five more Wildcats earned top-three times on Friday.
Nick Anderson won the 60-meter hurdles final in 7.97.
Famurewa won the weight throw with a best toss of 66’8.75”/20.34m.
Seymour was the top collegian in the 400m elite division, running 54.30. The
race was the UK debut for the transfer eight-time All-American.
She was bettered only by UK alum and current volunteer assistant coach Leah
Nugent who ran 53.09.
Top-3 finishers
Javianne Oliver ran 7.32 for second place in the 60m.
Fred Dorsey placed second in the long jump with a mark of 24’8.5”/7.53m.
Shane Dillon ran his collegiate personal best, 1:50.18, for third in the 800m.
Destiny Carter jumped 20’1.5”/6.13m for third place in the long jump.
Jacklyn Howell and Jasmine Quinn both ran PRs turning in third and fourth-place
times of 8.28 and 8.29 respectively.
The meet will continue on Saturday starting at 10:15 a.m.
Other notable results
Katy Kunc ran a mile PR 4:51.89 for fourth place in the mile. Lou Styles ran a
season- best 4:07.72 for fourth in the men’s mile.
Tim Duckworth tied his PR clearance in the pole vault at 16’4.75”/5m, good for
fourth place.
Ariah Graham ran 54.72 in the 400m. Brandi Walker was fourth in the weight
throw with a heave of 62’1.75”/ 18.94m.
