Kentucky Tennis Announces 2015 Hall of Fame Inductees

LEXINGTON, Ky. —
The University of Kentucky Tennis Hall of Fame has announced its class of 2015 inductees, which will include doubles specialist Brad Cox, Scott Foster, and Don Frazier. The induction ceremony will be held Sunday, August 2, 2015 during the $100,000 Kentucky Bank Tennis Championships a reception will be held prior to the induction on the UK courts at the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Center.
Cox is a historic figure in Wildcat Tennis, as he is the only player in the Wildcats storied history to have reached the NCAA Doubles in all four years he played at UK. In addition to that feat, Cox was named an All-American for his play with Eric Quigley in the 2010 season. The duo of Cox and Quigley reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament that year.
In 2011, Cox was named to the All-SEC Tournament team for his performance at the event. UK upset top-seeded Georgia in the semifinals before losing to the host Florida Gators in the championship match. Also a stand out in singles, Cox never played lower than the No. 3 slot in the line-up in singles, where his serve-and-volley game took to the measure of many highly ranked opponents.
“Brad was a natural born leader for our program,” Hall of Fame head coach Dennis Emery said, who coached Cox all four years of his UK career. “His contributions went well beyond his wins and losses. His game style was a perfect fit for our indoor courts here. His years coincided with a consistent rise in the rankings for Kentucky, as he led the Wildcats to three top-15 finishes in his four years in Lexington.”
Scott Foster was a consistent winner for the Wildcats. Recruited as a walk-on, Foster earned the distinction of being the winningest Wildcat walk-on in UK history, winning a total of 125 singles and doubles matches as a Wildcat. Foster played two years for Graddy Johnson, where he was also recruited and played under Tommy Wade as head coaches in Lexington.
In his last three years, Foster played the No. 1-3 positions, mainly manning the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. He served as the 1982 team Co-Captain with John Varga.
Don Frazier has served as President of Advantage Kentucky, the Wildcat Booster Club, since 1985. He has been a witness to the growth of the Kentucky program from a unique perspective. He has seen in-person more 800 men’s and women’s matches working regular season, SEC Tournament, and the NCAA Tournament matches. His support of the players has been unmatched, including his signature call of “Let’s Go Cats” since 1975 at all the matches as a rallying cry for all 400 of the Wildcat players.
