HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Kentucky women’s golf team concluded the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on Sunday with its best round of the tournament. Led by sophomore Haley Mills, the Wildcats fired a 14-over-par 298 to move up in the standings and finish with a three-day score of 917.

UK moved ahead of Georgia and finished in 16th place with the seventh-best team score of the day. The Wildcats got strong performances from Mills and junior Sarah Harris to beat its first- and second-round team scores by more than 10 strokes each.

Mills, who entered the tournament with UK’s lowest 18-hole average this season, returned to form Sunday with a one-under-par 70. The sophomore from Tyler, Texas recorded three birdies on the day, including two in a three-hole stretch on the back nine. Mills finished the tournament at 15-over par, tied for 47th place.

Harris, who began the day in 34th place, was Kentucky’s most consistent performer during the weekend. The junior fired a three-over-par 74 on Sunday and finished the tournament in a tie for 28th at 11-over par.

Sophomore Ale Walker carded two birdies on the back nine Sunday and fired a six-over-par 76. She finished the weekend at 17-over par, good enough for a tie for 58th place.

No. 8 LSU finished in second, followed by No. 3 USC, No. 16 Tennessee and No. 2 South Carolina.

The Wildcats will break for three weeks before participating in the LSU Tiger Golf Classic in Baton Rouge, La., from March 27-29. Kentucky has just two regular-season tournaments remaining before the Southeastern Conference Championship in Birmingham, Ala.
