Kentucky-Providence Postgame Notes

Kentucky is 7-0 and Providence is 6-1
Kentucky leads the series 3-0.
Kentucky is 185-27 all-time when ranked No. 1 and has won 25 of the last 27 games as The Associated Press top-ranked team.
- Coach John Calipari has led three teams to a No. 1 ranking (Massachusetts, Memphis, Kentucky) and has a 69-9 record as the top-ranked coach, including 28-4 at UK.
Kentucky returns to action Friday at home against Texas. Game time is 7 p.m. and it will be televised on ESPN.

Kentucky’s opening lineup featured Andrew Harrison, Aaron Harrison, Alex Poythress, Karl-Anthony Towns and Willie Cauley-Stein for the fifth time this season.
Kentucky scored the first six points of the game (two baskets by Towns and one by Andrew Harrison) but Providence rallied to take a 12-8 lead.
Providence made its last basket of the first half at the 7:41 mark, making the score 17-14 in favor of the Friars. Providence’s final three points of the first half came on foul shots.
Trailing 20-18, UK regained the lead with a 6-0 run to make it 24-20.
Kentucky led 26-22 at halftime.

Kentucky started the second half with Tyler Ulis, Devin Booker, Trey Lyles, Marcus Lee and Dakari Johnson.
After Providence got a 3-pointer to narrow the score to 26-25, UK took control with an 18-4 run to give the Wildcats a 44-29 advantage.
Kentucky went on to win 58-38.

Providence was limited to 28.2 percent from the field.
After making seven of their first 10 field goal attempts to start the game, the Friars made just four of 29 the rest of the way.
Kentucky has held all seven opponents under 40 percent shooting, including four games under 30 percent.
Coming into the game averaging 24.3 points per game, LaDontae Henton of Providence was held to three points today.
Kentucky won turnovers 18-7, leading to a 21-2 advantage in points off turnovers.
UK won the second half 32-16. This marked the seventh half of the season that an opponent has scored fewer than 20 points.
Kentucky had a season-high 12 steals, including four by Andrew Harrison, most by a Wildcat this season.
UK won rebounding 33-29 today and has outrebounded all seven opponents this season.
UK won bench points 18-9 and has won bench points every game this season.
Kentucky is now 44-0 under Coach Calipari when holding the opponent to 55 or fewer points.

Karl-Anthony Towns and Willie Cauley-Stein shared game-high scoring honors with 11 points each. It was Towns’ second-consecutive game in double figures and Cauley-Stein’s third double-figure game of the season.
- Towns and Cauley-Stein also tied a pair of Friars for top rebounder with six each.
Aaron and Andrew Harrison each contributed six points and four assists. Andrew’s four steals are most by a Wildcat this season.
Tyler Ulis had six points, three steals and three offensive rebounds. In their postgame remarks, both coaches mentioned Ulis for having a disruptive presence in the game.
