LEXINGTON, Ky. — The two-time Southern League Manager of the Year, former Kentucky star infielder Andy Green has been tabbed the new third-base coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks, it was announced by the D-Backs on Thursday afternoon.

Green, who starred for the Wildcats from 1997-2000, as served as the Diamondbacks double-A manager in Mobile, Ala., for the last two seasons, with Baseball America tabbing him the best managerial prospect each season. A product of Lexington Christian Academy, Green played four MLB seasons with the Diamondbacks and New York Mets before beginning his coaching career in 2010.

As a senior in 2000 for the Wildcats, Green hit .368 (89-for-242) with 18 doubles, three triples, 11 homers and 45 RBI, stealing 27 bases. He was picked in the 24th round of the 2000 MLB Draft by the Diamondbacks, making his MLB debut in 2004. In 1999, Green finished with a .270 average with 12 doubles, one homer and 22 RBI, swiping 21 bases. In 1998, Green batted .291 with eight doubles, four homers, 32 RBI and 13 steals. As a freshman in 1997, Green finished with a .288 mark, with nine doubles, five homers, 30 RBI and 20 steals.

Green currently ranks as the UK career record holder in games (228), starts (225), runs (199), hits (277) and at-bats (908), also ranking second in steals (81).
