FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team closed out the first day of competition at the Mason Rudolph Championship in a tie for ninth place, carding an 11-over 299, led by a trio of Wildcats in the top 25.
Haley Mills ended the first day in 16th place with a one-over 73, while Cylia Damerau and Grace Rose are each tied for 25th with a two-over 74.
Ale Walker fired a six-over 78 and Sarah Harris, who is seeing her first action of the season, carded a nine-over 81. Megan Kinney, who is playing as an individual also tallied a six-over 78.
“The course provided us with some good challenges today and for the most part we responded really well,” head coach Golda Johansson Borst said. “We unfortunately made some mistakes late in our round, but we have two more days and I know the girls are eager to get back out there tomorrow.”
LSU sits atop the standings at three-under par, 285, while Vanderbilt (E), Chattanooga (+3), Mississippi State (+4), and Alabama (+6) complete the top five.
Rounding out the rest of the standings were GRU Augusta (+7), Virginia (+9), Auburn (+10), Tulane (+11), Princeton (+13), Vanderbilt – B Team (+18), Lamar (+19), Clemson (+20) and Michigan State (+22).
Action continues tomorrow with fixed tee times on number one and 10 starting at 9 a.m.
