LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky junior right-hander Kyle Cody has been ranked as the second-best prospect in the Cape Cod League, in a ranking of the top-60 prospects in the talent-laden circuit, it was announced by Baseball America.

A native of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Cody was the starting pitcher in the 2014 Cape Cod League All-Star Game for the Western Division. A 6-foot-7, 245-pounder, Cody finished his summer with a 2.72 ERA in nine starts – including a shutout inning in the all-star game – working 36.1 innings, allowing just 11 walks and striking out 34.

Cody had several strong starts in the summer, including a shutout six innings on July 12 vs. Cotuit, eight innings of three-run pitching in a win over Cotuit on July 5 and seven shutout innings in a win over Falmouth on June 28.

Cody is coming off a 4-0 record as a sophomore in 2014, with a 2.84 ERA in 18 games and six starts, saving five. Despite missing 21 days due to minor injury and being limited to only fastballs for six weeks, Cody was a weapon the pitching staff. He worked 38 innings, allowing 36 hits and 13 walks, striking out 20.

In his two-year UK career, Cody has a 7-3 record and a 4.05 ERA in 33 games and 16 starts. Ranked as the sixth-best sophomore entering the year by Baseball America, Cody has worked 95.2 innings in his career, allowing 93 hits and 33 walks, striking out 67. As a freshman, Cody moved into the weekend rotation and had a 3-3 record and a 4.84 ERA in 15 game and 10 starts. Cody worked 57.2 innings as a freshman, walking 20 and striking out 47.
