LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sophomore right-hander Kyle Cody struck out four in two perfect innings in his fall debut and sophomore catcher Greg Fettes launched a monster home run in the fifth inning to highlight the second Kentucky scrimmage of the fall practice season, on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

At the plate, Fettes was the highlight, with his first homer of the fall. Blue also got hits from A.J. Reed, who added a walk, infielders Tyler Tipton and Tyler Marshall each singling. Freshman outfielder Marcus Carson doubled and stole third base in his three at bats.

Cody made the start for Blue and dominated through two perfect innings, needing just 24 pitches, with 19 going for strikes. A 6-foot-7, 230-pound native of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Cody struck out four without a base runner. Junior right-hander Spencer Jack, a native of Los Angeles, Calif., took over and needed nine pitches for a perfect third inning, striking out two. Junior sidearm lefty Trey Bailey worked a scoreless inning, allowing just one runner on a hit by pitch.

Sophomore right-hander Zach Strecker made the start for the Black team, working two innings with two hits allowed, striking out one. Freshman right-hander Austin Perry worked the bottom of the third, escaping a bases-loaded jam after a pair of singles and a walk. Freshman right-hander Zack Brown worked two innings, allowing a hit and a run.

Blue got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning when Fettes launched the sixth pitch of an at bat against Brown well over the left-centerfield fence.

The Blue team added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Carson smacked a line drive up the middle, stretching it to a double. After stealing third base, Carson scored on a throwing error on a ball hit into the hole on the left side of the infield.

Kentucky will return to scrimmage action on Tuesday, with an approximate first pitch time slated for 2:15 p.m. ET at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
