LEXINGTON, Ky. –
Megan Moir, a junior on the University of Kentucky women’s golf team, was named to the 2012 Southeastern Conference Golf Community Service team, announced Friday afternoon by the league office.
The Louisville, Ky., native was selected to the SEC Golf Community Service Team for a second consecutive year after totaling more than 400 hours of community service in her career. Moir spent a full month in Los Angeles serving inner-city youth with Athletes in Action, a group she would also spend a month interning for at a youth camp.
An excellent student, Moir has invested in youth as a mentor for at-risk children and a volunteer tutor for local schools.
Moir was a recipient of the Community Service Award at the University of Kentucky’s annual “CATSPY” Awards.
Moir competed in 21 rounds as a junior for Kentucky, finishing the season with an 81.19 scoring average and a round-low of 76.
The SEC Golf Community Service Team highlights a male and female student-athlete from each SEC institution, nominated by their respective institution, that has demonstrated a great commitment to serving the community.
