LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky gymnastics team used two season-high performances on balance beam, while scoring an overall team score of 194.65, improving  its Regional Qualifying score and grabbing its first road win of the year at the Masters Classic in Lincoln, Neb., on Sunday afternoon.

Kentucky (4-8, 1-5 Southeastern Conference) finished third at the event, defeating Bowling Green 194.65-189.45, while No. 7 Nebraska won the four-team meet with a 196.5 and No. 15 Iowa finished second with a 195.5. Seniors Andrea Mitchell and Phylicia Reshard finished second and third in the all-around competition respectively, with Mitchell earning a 39.25 and Reshard a 39.075.

The meet wraps up a stretch of four meets in 10 days for UK, with Kentucky showing major improvements during the difficult stretch. The Wildcats faced five top-25 teams the last two weeks, defeating No. 20 LSU with its season-best score of 195.575. Kentucky also scored a 195.05 at then-No. 14 Ohio State and finished off the 10-day stretch with a solid-road score of 194.65 Sunday at the Masters Classic. UK’s best improvement throughout the last two weeks came on beam, where Kentucky improved its season-high mark from 48.375 to 48.7.

UK scored the best beam score of all four teams at the Masters Classic, where Kentucky started the meet with the impressive score of 48.7. Mitchell and sophomore Caitlyn Ciokajlo paced UK on the event by both earning a 9.775. The high mark was a career best for Ciokajlo, who has now set a career-high score on beam in UK’s last two meets. Junior Storey Morris and freshman Audrey Harrison were solid on beam with both posting a 9.725. Reshard grabbed a 9.7 on beam, while senior Jasmine Minion concluded the UK rotation with a 9.625.

Kentucky kept the impressive scores going on floor exercise, earning a team score of 48.875. Minion and Mitchell led UK on floor with each notching a 9.85 to post the third highest score at the event. Reshard followed with a 9.8, while freshman Kayla Sienkowski continued her impressive freshman campaign on the event with a 9.725. Harrison wrapped up the UK rotation with a 9.65.

UK scored well on vault with a team mark of 48.725, considering the Wildcats had a rotation of only five gymnasts. Minion led Kentucky with a 9.85 with Reshard and Mitchell scoring a 9.825. Williams performed well on the event with a 9.7, while Ciokajlo posted a 9.525 in her first official vault of the year.

The Wildcats finished the meet on uneven bars with a team score of 48.35, where Mitchell again led UK with a 9.8 with Reshard not too far behind with a 9.75. Williams went second in the UK rotation and scored a 9.675, while freshman Brittany Canfield scored well in her first collegiate action, earning a 9.625. Morris ended the UK scoring a 9.5.

Kentucky returns to action Friday at 7 p.m. ET when it hosts George Washington and Bowling Green on Senior Night at Memorial Coliseum. The meet will feature Kentucky’s four seniors: Andrea Mitchell, Jasmine Minion, Phylicia Reshard and Colleen Williams.
