Team Records and Series Notes

  • Kentucky is 3-0.  Akron is 0-3.
  • This was the first football game between UK and Akron.  UK now has an all-time record of 25-7-1 against teams from the current alignment of the Mid-American Conference.
  • Kentucky opens Southeastern Conference play next Saturday at Florida.  Game time is 7 p.m. and it will be televised on ESPNU.

UK Individual Notes

  • Phillips is the first UK head coach to begin his career 3-0 since Paul “Bear” Bryant in 1946.
  • Derrick Locke rushed 17 times for 166 yards, surpassing 100 yards rushing for the third straight game and the sixth time in his career. Rafael Little was the last Wildcat to run for 100 yards in three consecutive games in 2007.
  • Derrick Locke is the seventh player in UK history to reach 2,000 rushing yards.  Locke now has 2,103 career yards on the ground with 166 yards tonight and ranks 7th on UK’s all-time rushing list. He needs two more to tie Artose Pinner (1999-02) for 6th place.
  • Locke gained 203 all-purpose yards. He now has 3,855 yards in his career and ranks 7th on the all-time all-purpose yard list. He needs 225 more to tie George Adams (1981-84) for 6th.
  • Randall Cobb scored one touchdown and is now in sole possession of 2nd place on the UK career TD list with 28. He now has 168 career points and ranks 6th on UK’s all-time list. He needs 24 points to tie Craig Yeast (1995-98) for 5th place.
  • Cobb has 995 career rushing yards and needs five yards to become the 32nd player in school history to reach 1,000 career rushing yards
