LEXINGTON, Ky. – Rebecca Kuhn has joined the University of Kentucky women’s golf team as an assistant coach, head coach Golda Johansson Borst announced Wednesday.

“I’m excited and honored to join the Wildcat family and involve myself in the University of Kentucky tradition,” Kuhn said. “During the past year at Coastal Carolina University, I have learned and grown immensely, and am anxious to apply that wisdom and drive toward this program. The opportunity to come back to the Southeastern Conference and work under Coach Golda Johansson Borst is a tremendous honor. I can’t wait to get started.”

Kuhn arrives at Kentucky from Coastal Carolina where she served as assistant coach during the 2010 season. With Kuhn, the Chanticleers posted six top-five finishes, including victories at the Charleston Southern University Wendy’s Invitational and the Administaff Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate. CCU also advanced to the NCAA East Regional for the first time in school history and recorded a 302.23 season stroke average.

“We are very excited to have Rebecca Kuhn join our UK family,” Johansson Borst said. “She knows what it takes to help make our team successful. Her passion for the game and her experience in the SEC will both be tremendous assets. I look forward to working with her.”

A four-year letterwinner at LSU from 2005-08, Kuhn played under Johansson Borst, then an assistant, during the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

While playing for the Tigers, Kuhn registered seven top-10 finishes, with her best event coming at the 2005 LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic where she tied for second. Kuhn ended her career with a 75.80 stroke average, good for fourth all time in the LSU record books. With Kuhn, the Tigers advanced to the NCAA Championship in 2006 and 2008.

Additionally, Kuhn earned a position on the SEC Academic Honor Roll all four years. She also was named first team All-Louisiana in 2007 and 2008.

A native of Miami, Fla., Kuhn holds a degree in mass communications.
