LEXINGTON, Ky. – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced UK senior sprinter Rondel Sorrillo as the Division I Southeast Region Track Athlete of the Year.

Sorrillo a senior from Vessigny, Trinidad and Tobago, earned the title for his outstanding performances during the 2010 indoor regular season in the 60-meter and the 200m dash.

“It feels great winning this award, I am extremely honored by it. Although receiving awards is gratifying it also can put a significant amount of pressure on anyone receiving it but it is an award I accept graciously and at the end of it all I still have two continue being me and compete the best way I know how,” said Sorrillo.

His meet time of 6.60 clocked Feb. 7th at the Virginia Tech Elite meet seats him tied for second in the 60m dash. He ranks fifth nationally in the 200m dash with a time of 20.77 which he ran on Jan. 29 at the Rod McCravy Memorial in Lexington, Ky.
