Men's Golf

The Kentucky men?s golf team shot a second-round 300 on Saturday and currently stands in 10th place at the Southeastern Conference Championships hosted by the Frederica Golf Club in St. Simon?s Island, Georgia. As a team, the Wildcats have carded a two-round total of 598 (298-300) heading into tomorrow?s final round.

Number one ranked Alabama leads the tournament field with a 578 (285-293) after firing a five-over-par 283 in the event?s second round.

Individually, Alabama?s Joseph Syroka continues to lead the field with a three-under-par 141 (68-73), while Kentucky?s native son Cale Barr (Versailles, Ky.) is tied for 12th after shooting a 2-over par 145 (72-73) after two rounds.

After Barr, the Wildcats are being led by junior Andy Winings (Brownsburg, Ind.), who currently is tied for 31st place with a five-over-par 149 (73-76). Winings, who has led UK in four tournaments this season, carded a four-over-par 73 in the second round.

Senior Brad Doster (Winter Park, Fla.) is tied for 35th place with a 150 (75-75), while sophomore Brian Belden (Emmaus, Pa.) carded a four-over par 76 to tie for 53rd. Rounding out the round for the Wildcats was sophomore Alex Volpenhein (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) who fired a 77 to move into a tie for 59th place with a score of 157 (80-77).

Play in the Southeastern Conference Championships continues with the final round Sunday morning beginning with tee times at 9 a.m. ET.
