LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The No. 23 Kentucky (14-7 overall, 5-5 SEC) women?s tennis team will play the last regular season match in Nashville, Tenn. at No. 12 Vanderbilt (16-4, 6-4). Match time is slated for 1 p.m. ET at the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Center.

Kentucky holds the advantage in the UK/Vanderbilt contest with a 19-17 all-time record against the Commodores. However, Vandy has won the last two meetings with UK, last seeing action at the 2007 SEC Tournament with the ?Dores taking the win, 4-2. The Cats had defeated Vanderbilt in the 2006 SEC Tournament, 4-2. Both teams have fallen to Florida, Arkansas, and Georgia, but Vandy was defeated by the Gamecocks 4-3 in March, a team Kentucky beat 4-3 in February.

Most recently Vandy faced Georgia and Tennessee. The Commodores swept the Lady Vols, 7-0, but fell to the Bulldogs in a tight 4-3 match. Both matches were held in Nashville, Tenn.

UK also saw matches against Georgia and Tennessee, splitting the wins. The Wildcats fell to then-No. 10 Georgia on Friday, 5-2. The Cats won the doubles point with a tie-break decision on court three, 9-8 (7-1), by freshmen Megan Broderick and Alaina Trgovich. The only singles point for Kentucky came in the form of Broderick on court one, defeating No. 69 Kelley Hyndman in a three hour match, 7-6(8-6), 6-3.

After losing to the Dogs, Kentucky made an impressive comeback against then-No. 17 Volunteers, with a solid 5-2 win. The Cats won doubles as well as courts one, three, five, and six. Court one also saw the upset of No. 51 Caitlin Whoriskey of the Lady Vols by Broderick, 6-0, 6-2.

Following Saturday will be the SEC Championships hosted by Auburn. The tournament is set to being on Thursday April 17 to Sunday April 20. For complete coverage of Kentucky women?s tennis, please visit www.ukathletics.com.
